THE NIGHT VANILLA ICE STOOD ME UP
This past Friday night, April 2, Rob Van Winkle, a.k.a. Vanilla Ice, was scheduled to appear at the Foggy Goggle Saloon in Boston to sign autographs and greet fans. This seemed like a great opportunity for a photo for the 'Other Character' section of DMSJR.com.
We called the Foggy Goggle in advance and were told he would appear at 9 PM. Some friends and I arrived at 8:30. Signs in the bar clearly stated he would be there at 11. We also asked a waitress when he would be there, she said 11. We were given incorrect information, and were now stuck at a crappy bar if we wanted the photo. By 11:45 there was still no Vanilla Ice, so we left. As soon as we got outside, we heard an announcement inside the club that he was now there. We tried to go back in, but the bouncer said he did not believe we had been there before. It was midnight, about 35 degrees and there was a line of 15- 20 people waiting to get in, so it was no longer worth it at that point.
I am not a huge fan of Vanilla Ice or anything like that, but it was a disappointing evening. Below are photos with Ice at a happier time:
